Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment Builds New HQ to Address Customer Needs

New facility to shorten lead times for orders and deliveries, and add 50 jobs in the next three years.

FREELAND, Mich. (February 12, 2019) – To meet demand and keep a superior customer experience in focus, Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment, a leader in the design and development of asphalt hot boxes, tack distributors and recyclers used for pothole repair and maintenance, today announced its new headquarter facility is fully operational.

Located at 2600 W. Salzburg Road in Freeland, Michigan, the building is near the intersection of M-10 and M-47 for easy access to main highways. With 48,000 square feet dedicated to operations and 5,000 square feet for office space on a 15-acre lot, the new facility can accommodate all divisions in a single location, creating shorter lead times and faster delivery.

“The new headquarter and manufacturing facility allows us to meet growing demand for our products while continuing to improve delivery. We can consolidate operations to one location, which greatly reduces production time,” said Michael Day, president, Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment. “It’s a time-sensitive business, especially in areas with unpredictable weather, and our long-term vision is to process new orders in less than 30 days. We’re working to set the bar higher, so our customers can fulfill their asphalt repair and maintenance projects sooner.”

Expected to generate up to 50 jobs for Freeland-area residents over the next three years, the new headquarter building creates a higher-quality working environment for employees.  Several environmental systems have been installed, including dust collection, air scrubbing systems and new paint booths with advanced filtering processes, to improve air quality. Additionally, a number of safety and ergonomics standards have been adopted to increase employee well-being and comfort during all manufacturing functions.

“We’ve invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and systems to lift air quality standards for our employees, as this new headquarters was designed just as much for our people as it was for our business and our customers,” said Day.

In addition to quality and safety considerations, Falcon also allocated funds to build an outdoor patio complete with a grill and seating area to establish a place for employees to enjoy during the warmer months.

Falcon invested $4.7 million in the move, and local residents are already seeing some benefits. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Bay County Road Commission (BCRC) dedicated an additional $518,000 to reconstructing and resurfacing parts of Flajole and Salzburg roads to support increased traffic by Falcon and its operations.

“The support we’ve received from Williams Township, MDOT and the BCRC has been beyond terrific,” said Day. “Everyone in the community will enjoy smoother roads because of this improvement project, and we’re all about building better roads, so it’s a fitting welcome.”

To commemorate the milestone, Falcon hosted local officials, employees and family members of employees for a private ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house celebration complete with guided tours and a BBQ lunch.

Bay Future, Inc. has worked closely with Falcon over the last year throughout the site selection process with Williams Twp. on the site plan approval process, and with the Bay County Road Commission, Great Lakes Bay MI Works!, MDOT, and the MEDC to identify incentive, training, and business development programs that have already proven to be beneficial for the company and to find the best fit for the company to secure the manufacturer to the Great Lakes Bay Region. “We truly see Falcon’s move to Bay County as a chance to retain a growing manufacturer in the Great Lakes Bay Region,” said Trevor Keyes, President & CEO of Bay Future, Inc. “We look forward to continuing to work with Falcon on expansion plans in order to assist the company in creating more high quality jobs in this community.” Paul Wasek, Supervisor for Williams Township, along with the Williams Township Board congratulated the company on their investment and welcomed them to the township. “We are happy to have Falcon move to Williams Township and to continue working with the company, “said Wasek. “It’s very exciting to have more development in our community and we will do what we can to make sure they continue to be successful.” Falcon, founded in 2004, manufacturers asphalt hot boxes that vary in capacity from a 1-Ton to a 10-Ton truck mounted unit. Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment’s VIP Technology Receives Patent

Midland, Michigan, February 22nd, 2017

Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment announced their Voltage Indicator and Protector (VIP) technology is now patented. The VIP technology uses an indicator light to help prevent burner damage from low battery voltage.

Running a 12-volt diesel burner below the required voltage results in no-starts, dirty CAD cells, increased fuel consumption and burner component damage. Falcon’s now-patented VIP technology automatically prevents the burner from operating below the burner manufacturer’s required voltage.

A green indicator light, located inside the electrical enclosure, alerts the operator to whether or not the battery is sufficiently charged. If the light is on, the battery is charged and the burner(s) will start. If the light is off, the battery isn’t charged and the burner(s) will not start.

“We are excited about this now-patented feature on all Falcon machines,” says Ric Simon, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, Falcon Asphalt Repair Equipment. “Our customers know at a glance if their batteries are charged and the machine is ready to go. Protecting the burner system in the event the batteries are low is a game-changer for our industry. Another innovative ‘first’ for Falcon!”

All new diesel Falcon machines will include VIP technology as a standard feature. It can also be easily installed as an after-market option.
