Asphalt Hot Box Trailers

What is a Trailer Mounted Hot Box?

A Falcon trailer-mounted asphalt hot box is a piece of road maintenance equipment used to store, transport, heat, and reheat asphalt. These machines are sometimes referred to as pothole repair machines or hot patchers. It allows crews to perform pothole repairs, utility cuts, and road maintenance using hot, workable material throughout the day.

By mounting on to a trailer frame additional equipment such as a tack tank, spray system and compaction equipment can be added to the machine allowing you create permeant patches everytime!

Faster, More Efficient Material Unloading

Falcon trailers feature a 33” full-width material unloading door—the largest in the industry—designed for maximum efficiency and ease of use.

The waist-high unloading height and ergonomic design allow multiple crew members to work simultaneously, reducing fatigue and significantly increasing productivity compared to traditional dump trucks.

Unlike standard dump trucks, which often cause workers to strain their backs and slow down operations, Falcon hot box trailers provide a safer, faster, and more efficient unloading process.

Consistent Heat for All-Day Asphalt Performance

Falcon asphalt hot box trailers use a diesel-fired Beckett burner system to rapidly heat cold patch material and maintain hot mix asphalt at optimal working temperatures.

  • Keeps asphalt hot and workable for up to 48 hours
  • Ensures consistent material quality for longer-lasting repairs
  • Reduces the need for frequent trips to the asphalt plant

How Do Asphalt Hot Box Trailers Recycle Asphalt?

Falcon three, four, or six-ton asphalt hot boxes can be built with a second burner allowing it to recycle asphalt. Our Hot Boxes use indirect, radiant heat to break down chunks and millings. The recycling process is very easy:

  • Add a rejuvenator to the hardened asphalt
  • Load asphalt into the hopper
  • Use the lowest possible temperature to re-heat overnight

Other hot boxes on the market use an open flame that destroys the original oils in the asphalt pavement. Shooting an open flame directly onto the material creates black, oily smoke, making the asphalt hard. Falcon hot box trailers use indirect and temperature-controlled heating. The upper burner and cross ducts distribute the heat evenly throughout the center of the hopper.

High-density insulation retains the heat required to restore asphalt to its original form. Our innovative combustion chamber delivers an impressive 92% fuel efficiency, saving your organization time and money.

How does the heating system ensure the asphalt maintains consistent temperatures?

Falcon’s advanced heating systems regulate temperatures and keep asphalt at ideal working temperatures for up to 48 hours.

Is the loading and unloading process of a Falcon Hot Box Trailer easy and safe?

Yes, we prioritize ease of use and safety. Our trailers feature designs that optimize the loading and unloading of asphalt materials. For example, the deck height on the trailer frame is lower to the ground. The ergonomic design helps prevent worker injuries from awkward shoveling heights.
